Time for Bourgogne Red & White~ Only Bourgogne AOC? NO~ Pinot Noir & Chardonnay are famous in New Zealand these few years, Sauvignon Blanc?! Um… somehow tradition now. Just see last year Pinot Noir NZ 2017 at Wellington, you will know how Bourgogne grapes match with this land. And the most important, compare to the price of Bourgogne bottles, the price in NZ is really nice.
Last time we have a really nice experience in blind tasting. Trust your taste bud, but not the label. Again, we will blind taste the bottles this time, not only Bourgogne AOC & NZ Red & White, we also have Chile & Victoria Australia Pinot for comparison.
Bottle Tasting:
2013 Domaine La Citadelle Bourgogne Pinot Noir
2014 Domaine de la Citadelle Bourgogne Chardonnay
2013 Craggy Range Kidnappers Chardonnay (YES! Craggy Range, the top Winery in NZ)
2011 Sherwood Estate Waipara Nor’wester Pinot Noir
2014 Casa Silva Pinot Noir Cinco Manos
2015 Fowles Wine Are You Game? Pinot Noir
[5/8/2018 update, one more bottle of Chardonnay will add as secret bottle]

Finally, we try Bordeaux red. A not easy to manage topic as the Bottle selection is difficult, and the aging bottles are highly recommended. So we have 2002, 2006 & 2008 aging bottles, including the locations from Pomerol, Margaux, Moulis-en-Medoc & Haut-Medoc, 2nd wine of 1855 & Cru Bourgeois.
Bottle Tasting:
2002 Chateau Ferrand (Well, WS can’t find it. 2004 for Auction is $805)
2006 Brio de Cantenac Brown (2nd wine of Third Growth under Grand Cru Classe in 1855, WS average $284)
2008 Chateau La Garrivq (Cru Bourgeois of Moulis-en-Medoc sub-region)
2010 Les Allees de Cantemerle (2nd wine of Fifth Growth under Grand Cru Classe in 1855)
2014 Chateau Gressier Grand Poujeaux (Same producer of Château Chasse-Spleen which is the top 6 Crus Exceptionnels)
2015 Chateau Barreyre (a new vintage Bordeaux Superieur for comparison)
2015 Howard Park Leston Cabernet Sauvignon (from Margaret River, a region in Australia where textbook claim the microclimate is as same as Bordeaux)
2014 Chateau Marjosse Blanc (a white bottle made by Pierre Lurton, the Managing Director of two First Growth Bordeaux estates. Chateau Cheval Blanc in St. Emilion and Chateau dYquem in Sauternes)
No bottle from Saint-Estephe / Pauillac? If over 10 participants, I will add 2006 Chateau Beau-Site, a Saint-Estephe over 12 years aging bottle.
